The long awaited judgment was finally handed down by the Court of Appeal. Mrs. Charman received £48million in what is regarded as the largest financial award on divorce in English legal history.
In huge money cases such as these it is now clear that all matrimonial assets, including trusts, will be brought into the pot of money before it is shared out.
Pre-nuptial agreements are not yet enforceable but it helps to have one in place pre-divorce upon which both parties have taken legal advice.
